The European Accessibility Act — Directive (EU) 2019/882 — applies across the EU since 28 June 2025. It requires consumer-facing products and services such as e-commerce shops, banking, transport, e-books and electronic communications to be accessible, and it is transposed into national law in each Member State.

It depends on your country and sector. In the EU, public sector websites must publish statements under the Web Accessibility Directive. Under the EAA, national laws can require providers to give accessibility information to consumers. A statement is the standard way to meet that expectation and it is always good practice.
